In a tragic incident that unfolded on Tuesday night, a woman was found dead at her ex-partner’s home in Rooty Hill, Sydney’s west.

The incident is being investigated as a potential case of domestic violence, shedding light on the persisting issue within communities.

The victim, identified as Christine Formosa Rakic, 50, was discovered lifeless at approximately 8:30 pm after a concerned family member alerted the police about her well-being.

According to the authorities, Christine Rakic had already succumbed to her injuries before the police arrived at the scene.

Superintendent Steve Egginton from the New South Wales Police described her injuries as “significant,” emphasizing the severity of the incident. Meanwhile, her ex-partner, Dusan Rakic, also 50, was found at the residence with injuries to his arms.

Currently, he remains under police guard and is receiving medical treatment at Westmead Hospital.

Neighbours residing in the vicinity of the Rooty Hill property reported hearing screams and signs of commotion, expressing shock at the tragedy unfolding in their typically peaceful community.

One long-time resident shared, “I’ve never seen this happen around here before, and I’ve been here for over 40 years.” The unsettling incident has left the neighborhood grappling with the realization that domestic violence can affect any community, regardless of its apparent tranquility.

In response to the incident, the authorities have established a crime scene, initiating a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Christine Rakic’s death.

Superintendent Egginton confirmed that one line of inquiry is focused on domestic violence, acknowledging the unfortunate possibility that it played a role in this tragic event. The investigation is being conducted jointly by local detectives and the Homicide Squad, indicating the seriousness with which the case is being treated.
